Pink Finss

The Pink Finss was established in 2010 to assist women and their families diagnosed with cancer.

We became aware of the wonderful work of the Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust when they were fundraising to fulfil their dream of opening an oncology unit in the Hawkesbury.

We were so happy to see Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust achieve their goal of opening the oncology ward and we personally know of many women who have benefited from having their oncology treatment locally.

We share a joint vision of wanting to provide a wonderful service to the people of our community and the Hawkesbury is so lucky to have a committed team in the Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust.

Pamela Duffield

Pamela Duffield used the services of Hawkesbury Living’s vehicle for transportation to and from radiation. The vehicle was funded by Trust donations. I recently had to undergo 25 radiation treatments over a period of 6 weeks at Nepean Cancer Clinic in Penrith. I was very fortunate and grateful that Hawkesbury Living were able to provide a pick up and drop off service to my door to help me through this process as I am not sure I would have been able to drive myself after radiation.

Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust has been instrumental in providing, and increasing access to, oncology and chemotherapy services to residents and community groups in the region for a decade. As CEO of Hawkesbury Living aged care, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first-hand how these donations benefit people. The Trust donated funds towards the purchase of a welfare services car for our consumers (residents) at Hawkesbury Living in 2019

For more than 8 years as a member and chairperson of St John Of God Hawkesbury Hospital Community Board, I was delighted to play a small part in the opening and operation of the cancer unit, to supply much needed treatment for those going through the cancer journey in our community. As the leader of the Hawkesbury Cancer Support Group I understand the importance of our community having a treatment base close to home. Before the chemotherapy unit was opened, patients had the added burden of travelling to Nepean Hospital for treatment, not an ideal scenario when you’re feeling very unwell. Through the very generous donation from the Peel Family and the many people in the community who were influential in raising funds through raffles, dinners etc. we’ve all worked towards the successful opening and operation of the unit. I was part of the team who happily spent many hours filling comfort boxes for the patients who used the chemotherapy unit. The contents of the boxes donated by the retailers in the Hawkesbury community, there contributions were amazing and very much appreciated. As a NSW Cancer Council advocate, Relay for Life worker, and Daffodil Day volunteer for many years it is gratifying to have a treatment unit in the Hawkesbury for our community.

After spending years traveling to Nepean Cancer Unit for my late husband Adrian’s treatment, it was truly a blessing to hear an Oncology Unit was opening at Hawkesbury Hospital. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and thankfully I was able to schedule my treatments at Hawkesbury Hospital. I found the unit far more personal, quiet and very easy to travel to. The staff and volunteers were amazingly compassionate and made me feel very comfortable. Many thanks to the Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust for their continuous efforts.
